Technology Innovation Division

The Technology Innovation Division within RISA is tasked with driving innovation and promoting the development and adoption of new technologies in Rwanda.

The division is responsible for identifying emerging technologies and trends in the ICT industry, and conducting research and development to create new products and services. The division also works closely with other government agencies, private sector organizations, and international partners to promote the adoption and use of ICTs in various sectors of the economy, such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and business.

The Technology Innovation Division within RISA is focused on a wide range of technologies, including but not limited to artificial intelligence, robotics, big data, cloud computing, and blockchain. The division also supports the development of local ICT talent through various programs, including hackathons, coding competitions, and training programs for software developers and entrepreneurs.

Overall, the Technology Innovation Division within RISA plays a critical role in driving innovation and supporting the development of the ICT sector in Rwanda. The division's efforts are helping to transform the country into a digital hub and a center for technology innovation in the region.

Services

1. Maintain and support the inventory of Tech Start-ups and Tech innovations across the country.
2. Maintain inventory of innovation Ecosystem Support Organizations(incubators,bootcamp providers)
3. Coordinate  innovation ecosystem players (GoR and developing partners).
4. Support  activities of innovation ecosystem.
5. Coordinate the  implementation PoC using emerging technologies.
6. Advise emerging technology adoption and implementation .
7. Prepare and coordinate programs that increase the required ICT skills
8. Coordinate Research and Development in ICT

Said Rutabayiro Ngoga

Technology Innovation Division Manager

Dr. Said Rutabayiro Ngoga is the Technology Innovation Division Manager within RISA. He got his PhD at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH-Sweden) in 2014 within the main area of Telecommunication Systems. Special emphasis was on dynamic spectrum access as an enabling technology for increasing the efficiency of wireless communications by using cognitive radio networking.
