The CEO of Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA) was elected Vice President of CAITA
On Monday 5th June 2023, Mr. Innocent BAGAMBA MUHIZI, the CEO of Rwanda Information Society Authority – RISA was elected as the Vice President of the Council of African IT Agencies (CAITA). This is a fourth organ of Smart Africa inaugurated during the GITEX Africa digital summit 2023 held in Marrakesh -Morocco from May 31st to June 2nd, 2023. The existing Smart Africa organs include the Council of ICT Ministers (CMICT), the Council of African Regulators (CAR) and the Private Sector Forum.
The first ever elected committee is headed by Mr. Sidi Mohammed DRISSI MELYANI from Morocco was elected by leaders from 15 ICT Agencies from Smart Africa member countries during the inaugural meeting held on the sidelines of GITEX Africa.
The purpose of this council is to promote collaboration and cooperation in the field of Information Technology across the African continent. It serves as a platform for member states IT agencies to share knowledge, resources, and best practices in IT development and implementation, with the aim of advancing technology in Africa. CAITA will develop and submit recommendations to the Council of Ministers on harmonized standards necessary for the implementation of Smart Africa initiatives.
