Ten contestants to redesign Government website unveiled

The Ministry of ICT and Innovation in partnership with Rwanda Information Society Authority, Office of the Government Spokesperson and other partners, unveils ten (10) contestants for redesigning Government website. The activity took place on Monday, December 3, 2018.

The challenge brought together Rwandan web developers; passionate about technology and new ways of communications to redesign a state-of-the-art, single one-stop-shop, user friendly and mobile responsive web portal for access to information and services from the Government and all public institutions.

Initially, eighty-three (83) Contestants joined the competition and Awesomity Lab, Didier Tsuki Rutayomba, Eric Ku, Gilles Kagarama, Innovation Village, Linda Habimana, Marcel Mutsindashyaka, Patrick Kubwimana, Sawa Developers and Trec Ltd were selected as the best ten competitors.

Speaking to the competitors, Antoine SEBERA; Government Chief Innovation Officer at RISA, commended their efforts and told them what they are expected to sort out.

“You will run an intensive program in the boot camp where you will be exposed on the needs from the Government and work together to provide a solution for the next version of the Government’s website. We really expect something big from you; that is why you are taking five dedicated days out of normal working environment to make sure you are concentrated. We will come back on Friday to do the last evaluation with the judges and the three best contestants will go further and implement a new Government website.” Said Antoine SEBERA.

The winner shall receive 5,000,000 FRW prize. The two runner ups will also win 3,000,000 FRW and 2,000,000 FRW respectively. These top 3 winners will continue working with RISA on further web development projects. All the 10 preselected teams will receive a participation stipend of 500,000 FRW.
